Winsor & Newton Artists' Oil Color Demonstration 1pm - 3pm

Afternoon Demonstration: 1pm - 3pm

(There is also a morning demonstration available: 10am - Noon)

In this demonstration artist Jim Bergesen will focus the technical aspects of Oil painting and the materials used to create them. He will start with some Pigment History and Color Mixing, continue with the use of painting Materials, and then focus on oil mediums; both traditional and contemporary including the full range of Liquins.  Participants will learn tips on creating oil paintings for permanence as well as some helpful fundamentals of color mixing, use of mediums, and with time permitting, proper varnishing. Jim will also be available to provide comparisons in handling properties to Acrylics, and/or other painting mediums that might come up during the workshop. 

$10 will reserve your seat. We will then transfer that $10 to a Catskill Art Supply Gift Card upon your arrival. This is to ensure everyone who signs up shows up due to high demand for this opportunity.

Attendees will receive sample packet of Artist Oil Color as well as a Winsor & Newton Artist Oil Brush.

Instructor: Jim Bergesen
Instructor Bio: Jim Bergesen studied at the Art Students League of New York of which he is a Life Member and went on to receive his MFA in Interdisciplinary Studio Art with a concentration in Painting, and MA in Contemporary Art History & Criticism from the State University of New York, Purchase College. Painter/Photographer, Artist/Teacher, Historian/Practitioner, Jim is all of these, finding excitement in the friction and resultant synergy of combining the passion of traditional painting and printmaking with the possibilities of digital technologies onto canvas, paper and transparent material, in a constant journey of exploration and experimentation of media. This process creates Works that reach beyond the artificial constructs of painting, photography, printmaking and leap into an undiscovered territory of Art. His work may be seen at Perogi Gallery?s Flat Files in Brooklyn as well as in corporate and private collections.
