I made art as a form of therapy, both individually and politically.

Artists Bio

I am an artist with a BA and an in-progress MA in Art Therapy. I grew up in Dakar, Senegal, West Africa, but was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. I have spent the past few years between those two places, traveling around the U.S. and Canada getting lost on public transport. I love to make art communally and privately, as part of a therapeutic healing process, both individually and politically. The drawings I make largely center around survival: as a woman, as a survivor of sexual violence, as someone struggling with illness. The paintings I make tend to center around the colourful, vibrant internal world that I experience, but also depict places as memory, blurry yet crystallized surrealism.
