Artist Bio
Star Nigro was born and raised in the hamlet of Woodstock, NY, going to gallery openings as a toddler. She became interested in photography after exploring the mediums of drawing, sculpting, collage and painting
from an early age at Kathy Anderson’s School for Young Artists and at Woodstock School of Art. This multimedia background led her to extensive exploration and study into photography receiving a BFA in the medium at the Art Institute of Boston at LesleyCollege, MA. During and after receiving her degree, she has travelled throughout Europe, and throughout America'sincludingBrazil, Ecuador, Mexico and the USA with camera in hand recording the people and everyday life moments.
Some of her photographs and innovative photo works have also been included in private and corporate collections including the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Boston, MA, ObeliskGallery, Boston, MA, TV/Magazine personality Rachael Ray and Joan Sonnabend renowned art dealer. While exhibiting in various
platforms such as solo, group gallery shows, art festivals and boutiques; several works by the artist have been sold at auction for non-profits fundraising, and
Star is a freelance photographer and also facilitates artistic workshops in the arts to individuals, organizations sharing her enthusiasm for creating with all ages. She was most recently invited to be a program director for the non-profit My Kingston Kids. Her main studio is currently in the HudsonValley.
